Main Uses
Mainly used in resin and coating modification. Copolymerization with other acrylic monomers yields acrylic resins with active hydroxyl side chains, capable of esterification and crosslinking reactions, synthesizing insoluble resins and improving adhesion, can be used as fiber treatment agent, etc.
React with melamine-formaldehyde (or urea-formaldehyde) resins, epoxy resins, etc., for the manufacture of two-component coatings. Used in high-end car paints to maintain mirror-like gloss for a long time. Also used as adhesives for synthetic textiles and medical polymer monomers, etc.
Used as a crosslinking monomer in the production of solvent-based or emulsion acrylic adhesives. Due to the polymerizable vinyl bond and active hydroxyl group, it easily homopolymerizes to form a flexible resin with excellent gloss, transparency, and weather resistance, used as contact lens material.
Also used in the production of photosensitive resins, medical polymer materials, and thermosetting coatings. Reaction with melamine formaldehyde resin and epoxy resin can produce high-end two-component automotive coatings. Also used as a modifier for fiber and nonwoven processing resins and paper processing resins.
